Ninnies disappeared down deep crevasse down a ledge 50 feet deep. When ninnies fell he lost some of the dogs and half the food. In 18months some of the weakest dogs where killed for food. Mertz started suffering, having fits and going crazy, he also bit off half his finger and spat it out onto the snow. Then Mawson was on his own. On the first of Febuary Mawson saw the boat,but had to stay at the camp for a year with 6 men and the ship came and they went home.
